I had been looking for a new wide angle lens for my astrophotography efforts. I finally ran across a used Rokinon 14 mm f 2.4 lens and bought it. Last night a friend and I headed east from Denver to Brush, CO for some night sky photography. The Milky Way was only going to be visible between 820 pm and 940 pm before the moon came up and and washed out the light. This lens doesn't link to the camera, it has manual focus and f stop settings. That was a novelty for me but I played with it and finally set it at ISO 3200, 22 seconds at f2.4 using my Cann 5D MkII body. I was pleased with it as a first effort.
Looks like a great first effort! Thanks for sharing. Wishing you clear night skies.
Nice job with the new lens! I'd like to offer a suggestion for some additional post production work. I took your jpg and loaded it into Camera Raw and tweaked 3 settings: Highlights = +35, Whites = +35, Blacks = -85. Check out the result.
I like that! My biggest weakness is the processing. I use Photoshop Elements 20 currently. I guess I'm sort of 'process challenged'. Thanks!
