This Great Blue Heron had a problem. In a shallow bay on Long Island, it caught a Blow-fish. The fish was small enough in the water, but blew up immediately, too big for the Heron to swallow. The next six minutes were like a bad comedy routine. The Heron would put the fish down, and it would shrink to normal size. The Heron would pick it up again, and the fish would inflate. Finally, the fish gave up, probably out of the water too long, and the Heron flew away with its dinner. Very entertaining.

It's a blowfish. Unless cleaned correctly, they are poisonous to humans

I know. A great delicacy in Japan, where the chefs need to be licensed to be able to serve it. For the Heron’s sake, I hope it is not toxic to birds!

Thanks, Mike. I was using my D500 with the 500mm PF lens. Great combination! F8 @1/2500 second.
