It was very late in the day when my feathered friend finally got close enough to shoot. By then the light was fading fast. I converted the image to B&W and filed it. Thought it might be worth sharing!

I see only one improvement to this outstanding photograph. The brownish area in the lower-left corner area should go black, in keeping with the black-and-white effect overall.
Your photograph works because of its perfect composition, its balance of graphic elements, its striking immediacy to the eye, its gentle touch from the bird in repose, the frame-within-a frame, and its contrasting elements. The silhouette effect makes the photograph bang out at the viewer. You have a winner here.

Interesting shot. However, It isn't black & white on my calibrated screen. There's a definite rosy tint.
