Off topic question. We’re planning a Fall Foliage trip to our friend in Saratoga Springs. I’m pretty sure you’re no near there, but when do you think it will be near peak/peak? Fall Foliage map seems to indicate some near peak areas up there.
Thanks, in advance.

So it is backwards, so what? The guy was a lawyer before he became a cartoonist. Making things hard to understand and confusing was what he did. Drawing was a hobby/past time since he was a child and sick a lot* - so his Mom got him books and a drawing set to occupy him.
The first character "Rat" he says he created during a boring law class - Rat = Lawyer, I am seeing a connection here.
Rat had his own strip and then he created Pig as the opposite of Rat and now in the combined series they are protagonists that he plays off against each other with support from the other characters.
*I can relate, I had pneumonia 6 times in first and second grade and spent a lot of time home in bed and my Mom read to me and got me books. I only got promoted those two years because when I was in class I had the highest grades in class. And I became a teacher and very prolific reader because I associated books and reading/teaching with being loved by my Mom. My Dad was a truck driver and when he was home he bought me toy bombers, cap pistols etc. and took me fishing So I am a retired teacher who did time in the Regular Army back when there was RA and Draftees, I like to shoot and I used to hunt and fish a lot.
Good one, jerryc41. A thinking man’s comic strip😊

The cartoonist is a former lawyer.

Having spent 15 years in a newspaper layout room I figured out the cartoon immediately. Getting the panels backward is no big deal.....getting them into the paper at all is the really impressive feat.
If I might share my "favorite" print blooper:
A contest held by a local Dairy Queen awarded the first prize (a Dairy Queen SHIRT) to a local resident. The big black headline read: "Dairy Queen SH-T awarded as first prize". The typesetter left out the letter R and the proof reader missed it.
By noon of the first day we had hundreds of phone calls asking for extra copies of the paper.
Such is the world of print.
