I've been reading the online Washington Post for years. That has come to an end. Prime members now get thirty days free, one month for $3.99, and then $9.99 a month.

A sign of the times. I can't remember the last time I actually purchased a hard copy newspaper instead relying on my iPhone or desktop for the latest news stories. I wonder if print sales are now so low this is the only way a news service can make enough money to stay in business? Sorta the same in the recorded music industry, I suppose.

There's always advertising. That's how they could sell newspapers for $0.02. Remember those days. We had a candy store across from my school, and the commuters would stop by on the way to the train. Two cents in the box, and they had a newspaper for the train.

My two sons never buy newspapers, always use the online services. I myself have always bought a daily newspaper, I Like the physical feel of one in my hands, and you can swat flies with them, fan yourself on a hot day, and if need be..start a fire with one! I remember listening to an ex editor of our local paper (Northern Echo) at one of our History society meetings saying that online services will eventually take over completely...that will be a sad day.

My oldest son subscribed and gave me a "guest subscription" so I added it to my desktop along with Fox and MSN (so I see both sides of the news) until they started burying me under adds to get my own subscription. Then I removed it.
Just a comment, I found that on most days the Post made MSN look like a bunch of right wingers.
Yes, I am a conservative on most things, No I am not Republican because my faith says don't join Political Parties or become involved in politics. Vote as an independent (as opposed to Independent which is a party in many places) on each candidate and issue on their merits, not along party lines.

Probably going to be seeing a lot of changes in the prime benefits now that Bezos is not the CEO anymore.

When he was in charge he was very involved.
Most people don't realize but Jeff Bezos built amazon from the tiny garage based book distribution company and turned it into the giant that it is today.
As a former amazon associate I can tell you that the company had a very unique culture where you didn't get in trouble for disagreement with your boss but you could get in trouble for not committing to the argument if you were correct.
