A walk in the woods

Sometimes you can get some interesting results even in the middle of the day. Here I'm walking my dog about midday. The sun is bright; but I was in a shaded area of the park. I'm shooting with a Nikkor 135mm Q Auto lens that is quite old; but still sharp and has nice out of focus rendering.

Thanks. In Utah you would have to drive up into the Wasatch range, I suppose, to get some woodlands. Spent some good times in those mountains camping and skiing. That was a long time ago.

No, I would think not; but then you have those giant cacti to make up for it. I'm starting to learn that you don't have to have epic scenery to make decent photos.

I agree Erich but you do have to have epic scenery to make epic photos

R.G. just posted in FYC a shot "Three Sisters". I think it is a great photo. You won't get anything like that if you are in New Jersey because we just don't have mountains like that. So you end up working compositions with the smaller stuff. Maybe not epic; but maybe just nice. Thanks for the comment, your thoughts always get me thinking.

You have just proved my photo professor wrong. I quote, "Put your camera away and take a nap, nothing good will come from the middle of the day". It might not be exact but you get the point.

Nothing will come of the middle of the day if you are standing in the middle of a brightly lit field; but our planet is a diverse place. Something good often presents itself regardless of the time of day, provided you are looking for it...of course, I'm also a big fan of afternoon naps. lol

I like ‘em both, Erich, but I’d try cropping out the top 2/5 of #2 to emphasize the horizontal, top-lit leaves - to my eye the top 2/5 is distraction.
