Photoshop CS6 Help Needed

Can anyone advise me on what has gone wrong, and how to cure it please ?
The problem is with CS6. I'm working on a photo, and am trying to clone out some background. On selecting the ref point (Alt/Left click), and then trying to move to the point to clone over, the whole image moves. It was working OK yesterday, and I suspect I must have done something to it, but I don@t know what. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Release the mouse button after selecting the reference point. Press it when the cursor lies over the area you wish to clone. The software remembers the reference point for the clone operation.

Note: Under the Edit menu, you may wish to set the Stroke to 3 pixels (from the default setting of 1 pixel). Selecting the reference point then involves 9 pixels (3x3 pixels) instead of a single pixel. The clone operation will use an average of the 9 pixels for the reference area.

Thanks for the response, however that is not the problem. Having selected the ref point, I then release the mouse button, and on moving the mouse to select the point to be cloned over, the whole picture moves.

Try updating CS6. You'll find "Updates..." in the Help drop-down menu in the Menu bar.

If that doesn't work, then try returning Preferences to their Default settings. You'll find Preferences in the Edit drop-down menu.

Of course, you could also go to the Photoshop help center, found in the drop-down menu under Help.

I would suggest trying to reset the Clone Stamp Tool first -- Right-click on the tool icon at the left end of the Options bar and select Reset Tool.

If resetting this tool doesn't work, I would suggest restoring PS CS6 Preferences file to its default -- Press and hold Shift-Ctrl-Alt (Shift-Command-Option on a Mac) when you launch PS CS6. Don't release these keys until you get a dialog box with the question "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File?". Click "Yes".

Please note: There is one downside when you restore PS CS Preferences file to its default -- you will have to reapply any custom settings you had.

Many thanks for the replys. Problem is now solved. I had unchecked a selection in the brushes somehow. As I suspected my own finger trouble.

I am not sure if this will help or not but make sure the caps lock is not on. With caps lock on it will cause some strange things to happen in photoshop.

Nice photo although I believe what you have there is an F-14A Tomcat. The Navy didn't fly the F-15.
