I looked at Zerene last night. Will definitely give it a try. There is so much out there and I'll have to admit that I have bought several items that I have not even tried out yet. Thanks for your information.

I did not know that there is a 200mm f4 Nikkor Micro. That sounds great. Thanks for the information.

The rail system looks interesting too. Are you using a rail system indoors and the Helicon Focus outdoors?

Has anyone used the Helicon Focus? It is used for automatic focus stacking via a lens attachment combined with their software program. Looks interesting but does it really work?
Thanks,
Marcia

I use Helicon Focus all the time and generally like the results. But...sometimes there are blurry areas that occur in the final stacked image in all three modes. I stack using the auto focus bracketing mode on the Canon R5 in various aperture and shutter speed modes. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

It probably means that the incremental focus adjustments were too large. I'm not sure just how small the increments can be with the R5 but an image like that first one would probably need at least 20 or so pics at something like f5.6 or f8 to ensure no areas out of focus.

Bob, can you tell me what the minimum incremental focus steps the Helicon FB tube is capable of. I've been thinking about purchasing this device but would need to know if it can do incremental steps of 0.05 mm or less.
Thanks, JackM

As I remember, there is a setting, but it also depends on exactly what your lens is capable of doing, some just won't move below a value, slop in gears?, whatever? You just try different values? Just got started with it, so maybe totally wrong on this, but no actual distance measure provided.
