My wife is not a camper, but when she saw the location of the yurts that the Utah state parks have for rent near Dead Horse Point, she was sold. There is an extended wait time because there are very few yurts to rent.

Why do this? These yurts are in the middle of a dark sky area. At night there is no intrusive light. The stars usually are crystal clear. Our visit, however, was in the middle of the smoke. The Milky Way was large and overhead, but not as sharp as usual.

There is no water and your bring your own bedding. The rest rooms, with running water and flush toilets, were a short walk away.

The true test - she wants to go back.

Interesting. I am not a camper but my wife likes it, so we own a 20-footer that has a bathroom, kitchen, and running water. I’m trying to understand how the yurt would be better.

Thanks for sharing this series, Mike. I’m betting that the Google people are wondering why there are so many “yurt” searches today.😊

Looks like a great way to spend the night. I don't think I could talk my better 1/2 into that in a month of Sundays.

Great recommendation for a trip to get close to nature with lovely accommodations. Are there any bears out there?

What a neat accommodation. Your photos show it off well and it sounds like you'll be having more stays at the Yurt. Looking forward to the star shots.

What a great, isolated get-away! The views are beautiful. How is the weather this time of year. Was it comfortable.

Some of our Oregon parks have deluxe yurts with a bathroom and shower. We stay in those.

In my own state--and I didn't know anything about these. We'll have to see if we can make a reservation.

Looks like it might be fun for a few days. How close are the neighbors? There is a new resort here in Iowa. Stay in a grain bin.
