Thanks Don. Yep temp hit 104 and I feel sorry for the players. Lots of water breaks.

Then I had to shoot another game with a fellow photographer, but because she is a lot younger than me, I left midway through the 2nd quarter. Enough heat for this old guy.

You and new lens are getting along very well. These are super shots focus, comp everything. I feel a purchase coming! Yes don't push it when the heat is up. We have had a lot of days with high temps and especially with the humidity. Keep posting love it. Thanks BE SAFE!

One more thing. I love the last shot. The intensity of the eyes and the body posture. Super! Thanks BE SAFE!

Great pics! Can you share what focus points that you generally use with the D500?

First two and the last two were with the 300 2.8 balance of shots with a Nikon 80-400 4.5-5.6 vr.

I agree with everyone else Jules. Spectacular ! Keep sharing … I wish we had daylight games in NJ. The home field I shoot is a bear at night especially without the 2.8 lens.
Stay safe. Paul

This was the Polynesian Classic here in Las Vegas. One day a game starts at 4Pm Next game 6:30. Friday night's game always start at 7Pm. Yes you are so right, without a 2.8 with reach might as well stay home. For my purposes I had to get a 300 2.8 used with a D500 for the 450mm reach. I barely get by with that. Must be patience and fill the frame in the camera and let the action come to you. No cropping done otherwise you lose image quality.
