For someone who doubted the Bus losing it's rear axel. It happens a lot more often that people think.
Found this when I arrived on the scene.
After I assessed the situation I called for a second wrecker then proceeded to ready the axles to be put back under the trailer, I raised the trailer and we winched the "slider" back in place, reinstalled the retiner clamps and made sure the lock pins were in place, since the rig was almost at the delivery location he contenued on and unloaded then returned to his terminal without trailer brakes.
This could have been a bad accident had the rig been on the interstate Apparently someone had moved the trailer axle and forgot to reset the slider lock pins, they were not spring loaded to snap into the next hole.
oh yes it could of been a real tragedy
Scary stuff. Lucky for the everyone, it went without any major damage or injuries.

He had just turned off a very busy divided four lane.
Which made my job easier and the carriers mechanics job easier, all he had to do was replace a couple of damaged air hoses.
Interesting, Frank, but scary to know that this is not that unusual.

Not as much today as then, the newer trailers have air operated slider lock on the fifth wheels and axle sliders.
Yeh but he rememberd to tie the tarp down.

He may not have been the person that unlatch the slider.
But he should have caught in his pre-trip!!
