I use PhotoScapeX and Topaz products. They both work well for me. PhotoScapeX can be used accurately with 3 or 4 clicks or you can REALLY get into serious editing. Here are a couple of sites for you, Enjoy. Be sure to select Mac/or Windows. Get the free version (just below the "Pro" download) first (it never expires), and you can always upgrade. If you don't have need for heavy duty processing, Adobe Photoshop Express is an excellent choice. It's free, and essentially has no learning curve. I started my wife learning photo processing on Photoshop Express - though she now uses ON1 Photo RAW, as do I. Give it a try!!!

You will grow used to the program and you will eventually want to have more advanced editing power. Having used it for Affinity some time it will not require a re-learn when the time comes for advanced editing. Buy for future needs.

Affinity is my choice for editor and XnView for viewing and sorting. XnView is free for consumer use.

Royce I use Apple Photos for editing, organizing and sharing. Does an excellent job for me and the cost is FREE if you use Apple products.

It’s been several years since I used it but ACDsee is a very user friendly program. It was very fast and efficient at editing jpegs. I’m not sure about RAW files.

I love Affinity, but it doesn't catalog. I don't need it because I just set up my own in Windows, using backups, etc. Op had mentioned cataloging.

I’d suggest using the free photo editing software provided by camera manufacturer of your system; and then use the resident explorer in windows or Mac equivalent as organizer. Use a robust sensical naming protocol and you’d be good to go.

I've been using ACDSee for about 15 years; it's excellent. Several years ago I looked at Lightroom and found that ACDSee was better. ACDSee has layers, for example, in the Ultimate version, and it has lately added a lot of facial-recognition functions. In fact, it has everything that I've seen anyone use in Photoshop but it's a lot easier to use.

I also use PaintShop quite a bit. It does most of what PhotoShop does, is easy to use and is inexpensive. For the money, you can't go wrong with PaintShop.
