The trouble with gullies is that access can be difficult. I managed to get just far enough up this one to get a decent shot. I had more sky in the shot but it was a very un-photogenic flat grey, so I cropped most of it out.

I think it's perfect the way it is.

Your efforts were rewarded. If it were mine I would get rid of that bit off haze on the top of the shot. But of course it is your shot.

Thank you Frank. It was a very misty day so I'll just go with it the way it is.

Very attractive and well composed. I think it benefits by being a touch somber.

Thank you quixdraw. That's the sort of place that gullies tend to be.

Yes, great as-is photo, but flip to start on the quiet side and end strong.

Thank you Donald. I agree with the suggestion that the most natural direction for perceiving movement is from left to right, but I'm not so convinced that it's the most natural way to view an image. My own way of viewing seems to be to enter at the bottom centre and then head in whatever direction my eye is led. Having said that, the flip version does seem to encourage viewing from left to right. I would be quite happy if the final direction of the viewer's attention was further into the gully, but I suspect the waterfall is too much of an attention-grabber for that to happen.

The picture was worth the effort you put into getting it.

Thank you Gaylord. And I didn't even mention the ravenous midges that populate that area .
