Overexposure recovery

These photos were taken on a bright, sunny day. I had inadvertently set my ISO at 1000 (I thought it was on auto), so the photos, take at f/9 and 1/250 were horribly overexposed. By first processing the RAW files, then duplicating the background layer of each photos and blending using the multiply mode at about 50% opacity, I was able to recover these images.

In the Mustang picture, the roof of the hangar was complete bleached out. I reconstructed it using the polygonal lasso tool to create a selection, then added a 1 pixel stroke and filled it with a medium gray using the paint bucket tool. I may go back and add a texture.
