Many who know me here will remember I struggle to make some good black and white photographs. I just had a roll of film developed and here are some of the results. I like these but they are more grainy than I expected. I used my Leica M6TTL with either a 28, 35 or 50mm Leica lens. The film was Ilford XP2 Super at 160 ISO.

Please let me know what you think.

Dennis

Thank you for the fine comments. You will laugh but I don’t know what digitized means.

I took the pictures with a Leica M6TTL camera. I dropped the roll of film off at a custom photo lab here in Santa Barbara and told the clerk I wanted the photos on a disc. I got the disc and negatives back. I downloaded the photos from the disc into my MacPro library. Somewhere in there is digitizing the pictures.

Dennis

Digitizing is just turning the film negatives into digital format that can be seen on a computer.

Picture # 3 is grainy and picture# 8 look to me being half grainy. Bottom part of the picture is grainy, but the upper part of the picture is fine. Odd, yes. The rest of your pictures are very well done. I think you have a bad roll of film.

The Ilford has performed exactly as it is supposed to. You have really nice highlights and shadows and varying degrees in between. The contrast level is good. Did you have to adjust it?

Thanks for stopping by to look at my photos. Yes, the Old Mission is there and I go there fairly often to try out film, camera or just for a relaxing stroll in the area. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

Thanks for the description. I guess the film developing company did that. Many new words and situations these days that were not here when I was a kid. I hear they even have phones now that have a type of rotary dial. No more phones hanging from the wall in oak cabinets with a separate speaker and receiver. I heard too that butter can be bought in a store now. No more churning it in an oak churn. That stuff was pretty great though. Believe me, I am not being sarcastic, just reliving my childhood when many wondrous things happened all across America that we just do not do anymore.

Thanks again,

Dennis
