Black and White Waterfall

I knew before I arrived at the location, that there would be a lot of water going over the falls since the Adirondacks had more than the usual amount of rain this summer. So I loaded the Hasselblad with Arista 200 black and white and decided that I would try to capture the power and speed of the waterfall by concentrating on details and not shooting the standard wide view. I think for this kind of a study, black and white works better than color even in landscapes because I'm interested in the dynamics of the scene not so much the color of the trees. If I return and shoot the same location this fall, I'll definitely choose color.

Nicely done, Erich. I prefer the first (power) to the second (motion). But I'll admit freely to being prejudiced. I do NOT think that slow motion water displays motion. To me it diminishes motion. Love the tree.

Wow, that is an interesting take on motion. I'm going to keep that idea in mind when shooting water in the future. I had to take a photo of that tree. Right on the edge of the water and growing between big boulders. Thanks for taking a look.
