A very pleasant place where we had a nice picnic lunch. The tortoise came to watch hoping no doubt to get a few crumbs then followed us around poking his head out of the water to see if more was on offer. (Actually I doubt it was the same tortoise as there were around a dozen swimming in the lake )

The fountain I shot with a slow shutter speed then a faster one. Not sure which I like best. Couldn't get past the blown highlights of the sun on the water but in reality my eyes couldn't either - it was very very bright.

The lizard - either a Goanna or a Monitor I think, ran across the path in front of us and straight up quite a tall tree. He is about 4 feet long - quite a big lizard.

The last shot just funny

That ring of stumps or roots reminds me of something I saw along the river in Austin, Texas. I tried to photograph it but it's something that's hard to capture in the murky light under the overhanging trees.

I really enjoyed the picture of the guy trying to get close the pelican. Too bad is was a little soft in focus. Great subject matter and color though.

Thanks Frank. I mentioned in the narrative the whites are blown out - it was to my naked eyes as well. Note while travelling I have no software on my MacBook for PP other than Apples Photos. If I reduce the blown out whites with it then the fountain is also reduced ruining the photo totally

Thanks Mr 10Mplayer - the guy photographing the Pelican was several hundred metres from me and I used maximum digital zoom on my little Lumix TZ220. Optical zoom for this 1" sensor camera maxs out at 360mm equiv with digital pushing it to 720mm equiv. Yes a little soft but very acceptable considering.

Thanks joecichjr. Queensland is a great place to be in the middle of winter - daytime temps of 20- 25 celsius. Home in Tasmania 2000kms south daytime temps are rarely above 14 and sometimes don't even make 10. Still each has its benefits and beauty
