You can do what my wife does. She just quietly puts her stuff in my suitcase and I may or may not see it until we arrive at our destination. With that said I realize she can get away with things that I can't, we all know it's a double standard but what can you do.

monopod will be a nuisance, especially if in a vibrating jeep.

Take a beanbag to stabilise the camera in vehicle from where most of your pictures will be taken and it will also damp vibration from the engine, which can often be running when you see a decent shot. Much more convenient for you, and others, than a monopod. (I've done game safaris in Africa and Asia, and never used either a tripod or monopod, nor felt the lack of them,)

An inflatable neck pillow can serve double duty as a beanbag, especially the ones that fold up into a side pocket integrated into the pillow.
