For the history involved, I have to go Jim Thorpe and Jesse Owens, but for inspiration, it’s the US hockey semi-final miracle on ice at Lake Placid and Kerri Strug vaulting on a broken ankle to secure the team score.
Even though not explicitly stated either way, I inferred that the OP meant currently in progress Olympics.
Maybe I inferred incorrectly...

I was thinking about the Olympians during our lifetimes. Certainly the '80 hockey team belongs in that group. Thorpe, Owens and Weismuller in the all-time group. I'd have to add Emil Zatopek.
This year I'm pretty impressed with the performance of Caeleb Dressel (sp?) with the tattoo sleeve. Whoever was the artist, he did a great job. I encouraged my kids NOT to get tattoos and piercings but if you're gonna get a tattoo, remember you only have one canvas, so get the very best artist you can find and afford. I'm also impressed with Ledecky and Suni Lee who won the gold as best woman gymnast. It's fun to watch this year given the fact that there are so many new faces. Eager to watch track and field which is now beginning. I am sad, however, that I have not seen many Nikon cameras this year. Ah well, such is life.

Who? Elmo?
Elmo Lincoln, an American actor played the first Tarzan in 1918(a silent film). However, JW was far and away the best Tarzan.

I know who he was.
Read your sentence again, s-l-o-w-l-y: "No, Elmo Lincoln, but he was the best Tarzan."
Who was the best Tarzan?
(But YOU know who you meant......)
