Catch of the Day 7-21-21

Walked about through the field with camera in hand and it was like being in a sauna out there at 94-deg.F and 62% Rh. I did find a few critters and some charming wildflowers which made it all worthwhile and taking a cool shower and sitting in front of the fan afterward was quite refreshing.

Thanks, Trigger Finger. I would not have imagined the difference the lighter lens would make for me. Of course being an old guy has a lot to do with the ability to hold the camera on-point.

Thanks, Kpmac. Spending time in the field allows me to see things in a more artistic way than the more surgical focus stacking sessions in the basement do.

Thanks, Doc. I was only good for about an hour out there and I was fortunate to find a few subjects that were cooperative.

Beautiful set Sippy. It amazes me how bugs can manage antennae 3 or 4 times their body length

Thanks, Curmudgeon. I zoomed out on that shot so that the antenna would show its length which I thought was way cool.

Brenda, thanks ever so much. The walkabouts through the fields are the best way that I can find Mother Nature at her finest. My focus stacking sessions provide me with something that I can do regardless of the weather day or night. They are technical studies of some of the specimens that I come across and the little beauties and cuties are best off where Mother Nature has put them where I can get artistic pleasure seeing and recording them.

This is an excellent set! Dogbane beetles are not easy since if anything they are too metallic. Fortunately for me I rarely see them.

Thanks, Mark. They are among my favorites because Mother Nature painted them with that 'flip/flop' paint job which changes their color based on how the light strikes it.
