From The Yard

Made an adjustment to my DIY flash diffuser by tilting it in a near horizontal position over the lens which serves more like a large softbox with the dual head 'bendy arm' flash firing through it.

Of course what fun is it to make and adjustment without trying it out so I walked around the yard and took a few practice shots with hopes to take a walkabout in the park tomorrow before the heat of noon arrives.

My finds were a Leaf Footed Bug nymph, a Hibiscus bud, a Long Legged Fly and an Assassin Bug.

Sometimes getting away from the well trodden path to persue new ideas ends up with good results so well done again.

Elliott, thanks for asking. I've been using the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S Macro Lens on the Z6 camera which is ever so light in weight which helps me hold it on target without being front-heavy like my other macro lenses that I use in the field.

Thanks, Brenda. I enjoy being out and about when the heat and humidity are not so oppressive.

Thanks, Kpmac. The DIY flash diffuser was installed in a vertical fashion with the top half bent forward. I now have the diffuser out over the front of the lens in a horizontal position.

Well done! Among these is the interesting green assassin bug. I see a lot of them, and lately egg clusters on leaves which are possibly their eggs. Elongate eggs in a tight cluster standing up on their ends.

Thanks, Mark. We have an abundance of stink bugs and leaf footed bugs in our area so I come across them quite often. The assassin bugs are far and few between for me. Not that they are a rare find, they are just good at hiding which I imagine goes along with their name as they hunt for prey.

Ambush bugs are on my "I want to see one" list for I've only seen one or two ever and I find them to be quite interesting looking and of course they have an exemption from collection along with many others.

Thanks, Curmudgeon. My DIY flash diffuser works well for me although it is a bit large so getting in brushy areas is difficult at times.
