Thanks! Yes, slightly. I had my spot on the rail but, just before the break, some frat boys wandered over. As the horses surged, the one to the right of me threw his arm up/out & cheered. The result was a kinda fuzzy blur so that was cropped out. Good thing the camera is weather sealed because he was also holding a beer, lol. He was a bit in his cups but at least he apologized :)

I was hoping you could get the far steeds head in the shot and also all of the near jockeys full head. The horses nose at the left edge is a bit distracting to me but, hey, it's still and outstanding shot and you did well. Welcome to the hog pen and good shooting to you.

Lurking for a bit & thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Barb. I've been in the racehorse industry most of my life & spent my mornings galloping horses for more years than I care to count, lol. Eventually had to hang it up but I'm also a vet tech. My side gig was always art, primarily pen & ink, oils, etc. Somewhere along the line the muse left but then, later, reappeared with a camera.

So, here I am, forever on the learning curve & that's a good thing! I think that's one of the things I love about photography - there's always something new to learn (although I'm baffled by Photoshop).

This shot was taken at the Keeneland 2021 Spring Meet in Lexington, Kentucky.

Thanks :) Getting the horses in frame was my prime objective. Getting the jocks, not so much. The break is incredibly quick as it has to be. You can't redo but there's always another race!

Speaking of which, you might like this one. It's a favorite. (Yes, it was cropped...)

Great shot! Welcome, and look forward to more of your work.

Side note: personally, I do not not nor have I ever owned photoshop, and I get along just fine.

I love both shots and I know what you mean about happening fast as I shoot BIF and sometimes I get a "frat boy" in the way. Glad you are here and look forward to more.

Thanks :) As to BIF, I'm impressed! I've tried to shoot barn swallows (AKA: dive bombers with feathers) without much luck. Think I better stick with racehorses! lol
