I paid $2995 3 months ago from Nikon authorized dealer. I wanted a full frame DSLR that could still be used with all the exiting Nikon lenses and gear that I own. Because I am 82 years old and not in great health the camera and lens is too heavy for me to use hand held. Even with increasing shutter speed I can't avoid camera shake results. My friends in the camera club suggest using a tripod but that just increases the weight and gear I need to carry for casual photography. It was a mistake to buy a 45 mega pixel, full frame camera (no matter great the camera) at my age and ability and expect the camera to overcome my physical problems. I am looking to sell the camera for $2400 with $50 for shipping and insurance. The camera comes, as new, with original box, D850 strap, front cap, charger, battery manual. I think there have been less than 50 shutter activations. If need to discuss I can be reached by phone at (843) 707-9288 or email boblenore@gmail.com

Sorry to hear you got more camera than you need or can use. For pretty much the same reason I have not bought a Pentax K-1 or K-1 mk2. It weighs too much for me to handle. I am 66 but have bad gouty arthritis in my hands and else where. Good luck and hope you find a camera that is more comfortable for you. You might consider a Fijifilm X-S10 MILC (APS-C mirrorless).

No. I purchased it from a California authorized dealer trough Amazon and got interest free credit for 18 months. Because it was through my Amazon account I can't return to the dealer Because the return had to be within 30 days. I actually think I owe more on my credit account than the price I trying to sell the camera for.

Have you tried a trekking pole/mono pod. I have one by Kelty and it works great.

I appreciate the suggestion but I have a tripod and a monopod but the camera and lens is heavy enough for me to carry around and means I am more stationary than I want. I also find that at my age it is much more difficult on a high pixel density camera to achieve tack sharp results even at having to raise the shutter speed to try and compensate.

I suggest you call Arlene Sheras at Used Photo Pro 301 526 9065. She is a very experienced, intelligent professional. At the least she will give you excellent advice. I’ve done two transactions with her and was very pleased. Mention my name if you wish.

Good morning "RLawner",

I can absolutely identify with your issues. I am nearing 72 and experience very similar (if not quite as impeding) issues. Sell the beautiful D850 although never give up on the image making with whatever means available to you. Good luck on the sale.

All the best to you and yours and, again, don't let your photo passion fade away.

Terry

I am sure you can understand now why mirrorless has been so successful and why so many people our age are using them. I am 85 years old, thank God still very active and I do not have issues using my dSLR cameras BUT since I tried a mirrorless, an Olympus EPL-1 over 7 years ago I immediately became fascinated with its size, weight and capabilities. Today I use an Olympus EP-5 and the professional EM1D more often than I use my other cameras. I also have an excellent EM-10 Mk II that I plan to sell since I have been using the EM-1 more often. The lenses are also smaller and sharp.

I believe that for us amateurs a 45 Mp. camera is overkill. I bet you will not make murals with your camera for exhibition or to sell the images. I use a D7000 with 17 Mp. and the enlargements from that camera are dynamite using good optics. I would say that 24 Mp. are more than enough pixels for the ,majority of us old timers.

I agree. At my age it was a costly mistake.
