Sandy

Sandy sat in the rescue. No one wanted him, ( we named him Sandy because we lived on the beach and because of his color)
people would either look at him and walk away .or they would take him into the yard he would cower and hide behind what ever he could find.
I watched as he would hide but would also be very friendly to the worker that brought him out.

We brought him home and we were told it would take 6 weeks to 6 months before he would be comfortable.
That dog jumped into the back seat , didn't have to be coaxed. Got in the house, found a chair and made himself at home.
After 3 baths to get the smell off of him, a hair cut and he is becoming a very good dog.
He was afraid of every stranger but is slowly coming around. We take him everyplace we go and everyone wants to pet him. He is coming out of his shell and is making friends pretty easily.

The other day I raised my hand for what ever reason. He dropped to the floor and curled into a ball as small as he could make himself. It became obvious someone had hurt him in his past life. Not to worry he is safe and has found his forever home and is loving every second of it.

Thank you for adopting that sweet baby and giving him the love and attention he needs. There will be a special place in heaven for you and a special place in hell for whoever hurt him.

I have a Golden Retriever mix that I adopted from the pound when he was about a year old. He is now 14. When he was about 5 or 6 I was outside and I picked up a cord and stretched it over my head to straighten it out before coiling it up. Murphy hit the ground in fear. I dropped the cord and lay down next to him and cried. I was so upset that someone would hurt such a wonderful guy.

Please give Sandy lots of hugs and kisses from me and tell him Murphy sends him lots of wet, sloppy doggie kisses.

Who could ever walk away from the dog that is in the smaller picture. I don't think I could. That's why we don't go to the pound or the rescue, here we call them animal society. We would be coming home with a lot of animals. About seven years ago we went to one with a very specific criteria for the worker to find. We stated out front. The worker brought back exactly what we were looking for except she was scared to death. It was a calico cat. We took her home and we saw her make a bee line under the bed and that's were she stayed for two days and I suppose nights. Gradually she came around. We still have to be very careful with our hands, sticks are not allowed or fast movements with our hands and it has been seven years. I wonder what she went through as a kitten. I've posted a couple of pictures of her. I'll post a couple in the pampered pet section.
Tell me animals don't remember or don't have feelings.

Then I forget to tell you what a gorgeous shot of Sandy, quite a change. There's a special place waiting for you.

GOD bless you for taking Sandy and making him a family member. We have always gone to the shelter for pets. Brutus passed three months ago and I still cry when I think about him. We still have Blue but he is in his later years and probably doesn't have a long time to go ( I hope he does though) he has a real hard time getting up and down sometimes like me. He is so special and we all love him. There is a special place in heaven for people that take and love animals and make them part of their lives and families. Thanks for posting and BE SAFE!

We have had the same problem with Tanner, our rescue dog. We were asked to house him for a little while, while his owner, a little old lady, went into assistant living for a little short time. We soon noticed Tanner was scared to death of my cane. Obviously the little old lady was not so motherly toward him as she should have been. Tanner now would give his life to defend my wife and possibly mine, as long as a cane wasn't in site.

What a cute dog you have there. It takes a special person to take in a rescue and love them the way you do. You are a saint in my book. Wonderful picture by the way.

I'm so glad you gave this beautiful guy a loving home. People can be so cruel sometimes and I to this day will never understand how they can do some of the horrible things that they do...but that is a rant for another time. Give your fellow an xtra big hug from me and thank you from all of us who care ♥
