A few weeks ago I posted looking for recommendations on whether to go with a Canon 90d or Fuji XT4. I was deciding what to do got lots of good suggestions Then CHG_CANON commented go with mirrorless and not yesterday’s technology. He also posted on another thread, life will never be the same going with Canon R5 or R6. Got me thinking and watching lots of You Tube videos and written reviews……………………….today I walked out of Hunt’s Camera in Providence, RI with a Canon R6…………wow I’m impressed!

Thanks for sharing - I’m so tempted but I feel I’d miss the reach effect of a crop sensor. I hope to see Canon produce a crop sensor mirrorless R as rumored so I can get the image, IBIS and silence-optional features that my T2i just doesn’t have.

Congrats on your new camera it should take great photos. But just for the record the Fuji X-T4 is mirrorless and not yesterday's technology.

Ysarex, Thanks. I just went back to read what I wrote and I wasn’t clear but he was referring to the 90D DSLR as being yesterday’s technology not the XT4.

I haven't tried it with the R6 I know the R5 and R6 you have a setting for crop, built in. I am not sure how a 10 mp image will come out. It is one of my future experiments. Then using Topaz AI or Photoshop doubler to bring the image back to it's original size.

I just replaced my Canon 760D (T6s). I really didn't know what I wanted, only that I have thousands of dollars invested in lenses for the 760D. Nonetheless, if I chose something else, I could sell them. I wound up renting a Canon EOS R5, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, and the Canon EOS 90D. All were impressive, so I factored in getting new lenses and how much that the old and new technology would affect my old body going forward. That left me with the 90D, which is what I bought.

There are a lot of camera stores, both brick & mortar and online, that are closing up shop. Lots of camera equipment for sale at pennies on the dollars. I got my 90D for $549.

Congratulations!!!. I have enjoyed my EOS R. I only have 1 RF mount lens but all of my EF lenses are wonderful. I was going to get the R6 but after reading many replies to questions on new gear, I decided to stay with the R. I don't do anything that needs more than 5 or so fps and the 30 mp sensor is all I need. I have become disabled and what I am able to shoot is much different than even a year ago. I am moving more towards macro and astrophotography because I can no longer spend a lot of time on my feet due to neuropathy. I am using a 90mm tamron 1:1 for macro and several different lenses for astrophotography depending on whether I carry my star tracker or not.
