I appreciate everything you have said. I do have a few items that I am unsure what they are. I may take a pic and post here, if I can, to find out. One has casters or rollers on the inside of both sides. I have no idea what it is but can tell he used it a lot. There are slide projectors everything that goes along with it. I realize now I still have much to do.

I have offered and am organizing an entire room/ofc of an friend who passed last year. His career was teaching photography. Needless to say this is a major task. I found this out yesterday when I spent 1/2 day starting to sort through stuff and his wife told me he never threw away anything. Fortunately that included every box his cameras and lenses came in.
I called KEH and spoke to a women in the resale buying dept. I wasn’t happy at all with her help and made an excuse to get off the phone. Very different from 6 mos ago when I called about this same thing.
This being said I am open to any and all suggestions everyone may have. I offered to help as my friends wife of 54yrs is in her 80’s and hasn’t a clue about all his gear.
I appreciate your advice.

I am going through the same thing for the widow of my friend that passed in October. It is a large undertaking for sure, especially when it gets down to the smaller items.
I was able to get rid of a lot of the higher priced items by compiling a complete inventory of each and every item including serial numbers and a personal rating between 5 and 10 on condition. I then sent the list to Adorama, Keh and a couple of others via email to their used equipment buyers. They each sent back the edited list of what they were interested in and what they would pay including free shipping. I then cherry picked the best prices for each item and sent a reply back with the offered prices for approval. This worked for most of the equipment, but I am still selling off the small items using eBay and Facebook marketplace.
Good luck, this is a monumental task.

Great comment and reminds me of the 'internal tracking' aspects of a master spreadsheet, where more attribute columns should be considered for our OP's work, such as:
Brand (Canon, Nikon, Leica, so forth)
Category (Flash, Camera, Lens, Tripod, so forth - intend for filtering a list of 20+ items)
Serial Number, were available
Ask Price
Sold Price
Date Sold
Buyer / Sold To
Condition Rating, maybe words or number covering: Like New, Excellent, Good, Well Worn
What a lot of good advice you all have given Photo Jo. And what an interesting project!
Phot Jo, would you please include a reference to the final product of your work, (I would be interested in Leica lens' that fit M3's).
Thanks, Bill
If you want to sell the equipment with no effort consider hibid.com. This is online auction site. Go to the site and find on-line auctioneer in your area and negotiate with them.
You can set starting price for each piece of equipment. I do not know anything about fees etc charged by auctioneer. I am using the site to buy cameras now and then...

I think if the OP were to be helpful he should put effort in this task to get the most out of it. Otherwise the owner could contact an estate sales agent who would do it quickly, efficiently but not generating the most.
This is why it's not good to keep everything. Someone else has to clean up the mess.
Your comment omits mention of the deposition of the photography items, except intimating that you may try to sell the items.
But as to organizing it all, you may wish to consider enlisting the students in a photography class at a local high school who could do this chore. They might devise a catalog itemizing everything. You could donate all or some of the items to the class for its purposes.
Contact a local camera club for suggestions.
Good luck.

You do know what I am going through. It is alright. The fellow that died was a good man and his wife deserves to have someone help as she is not knowledgeable in cameras at all.
Hopefully down the road, someone will be doing this for me.
