Is very frustrating as they were heading away from me through some heavy timber. Anyhow, this is a pair of two year old cubs somewhat in the open as they were feeding. Mother was further in the timber and I was unable to get any decent images of her. At times the snow was quite heavy and the bears could not be seen. These shots were all taken as the snow waxed and waned and played hell with the Auto Focus!

On another note, I have been fighting a bad head cold for the past week. Normally I wouldn't mention this but I'm scheduled for my first cataract surgery tomorrow morning. Just finished with the surgeon's nurse who cleared me to have the surgery as my temperature is back to normal and bronchial coughing has subsided. My second cataract surgery is scheduled for the 24th so don't know if I will be posting much for the next couple of weeks.

Hopefully the cough will not rear it's ugly head. I'm a smoker and I ended up with a single suture in my eye during my 2nd surgery as my surgeon said I had a coughing fit during a crucial moment and he was afraid the incision had opened a bit. Had to go back a month later to get the suture removed, which had started to become an irritant.

Good luck, I'm sure you've read the positive comments from the majority of people here who have had it done. I'm 20-20 in both eyes for distance after wearing glasses since the 8th grade. I can now wear cheap regular sunglasses...yay!

Good luck with the surgery. Hope all goes according to plan.
Pictures are good. We work with what we get.

Thank you very much for the good wishes, Equus. Never more true than in wildlife photography...I'm always happy just getting an opportunity to photograph something rather than leaving with an empty SD card!! I will work with what I get and be thankful!!

(1) Great Grizzly Shots, and (2) keep us updated on progress after surgery. It's a process that I will be going thru in the next year if I can get enough courage up. Good luck!

Thank you, nervous2. Supposedly an easy procedure and I will update as soon as possible.

Jederick, those are good shots. Haven't been on the forum much lately so I know nothing about your surgery but whatever I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. I'm in the hospital right now recovering from colon cancer surgery that I had Monday. Hoping I get a good biopsy report tomorrow saying it didn't spread. The surgeon said he saw no signs that it had spread. So I'm staying positive.

What a shock, Jerry! You went through a very difficult procedure and good to hear it has a positive outcome. Wishing you all the best for a full, speedy and painless recovery. Let us know how the news is tomorrow and stay strong and positive!!

When and where? I got some on the 24th south of Roaring Mt with the same terrain!

Take care and hurry!

Believe these were the bears you saw...they were heading south and were right at Twin Lakes a few miles south of Roaring Mtn. on the 24th, noonish. Actually, photographed them again in the same area west of the road in an open meadow the following Saturday...only this time they were maybe 1250-200 yards out. Got photos of all three in one frame...one of the cubs is almost blonde!!

Gotta run...doctor wife is calling me for chicken soup!!

The ranger said that they were the Obsidian crew. They've got a lot of man hours invested in them!

Ahh, breakfast of champions! We use the carcass to make soup every few weeks.

Thank for the comments and good wishes flip. Coughing is the only thing that is bothering me in prepping for this procedure. Taking so many over-the-counter meds hoping to keep coughing in check. My wife had this same procedure and surgeon three years ago and raves about her results. Actually, I should have done this a couple of years ago...oh well!!

We used to see the Beryl Springs family ~10 miles further south and now haven't seen them in two years. Don't even here them mentioned...funny how things come and go. We use our Costco chicken carcass for soup after using the leftovers for enchiladas...good eating!!
