Just as exercise to elicit pointless comments like yours, perhaps?

A simple snap on a beautiful day of a beautiful rose; nothing more, nothing less.

Is a point really required?

No, a point isn't required. But, then, neither are time-worn cliches'.

Sometimes, Bob, conversations with you are a bit of a downer. We can't be the very soul of wit and enlightenment all the time.

To please you, on the rare occasions that I post I'll be sure to bear your views in mind.

It was simply an image that I liked that I wanted to share with people

Disappointingly your kind of put-down is all too common on this site.

alexol, the photographs you posted were quite nice and I don't mean to denigrate the photography. It's just the time-worn cliches' that can detract from the quality of the presentation. So, my apologies if the comment was taken as a put-down.

Very nicely done. I don’t think the camera at home could have done any better. 😊

Thank you. Just as well since the "camera at home" - a very much under utilized D850, completely wasted on me - has just been sold. The only remaining component is the 85/1.4 listed in the classifieds.

Decided in a moment of possible lunacy, I'm going to try a Fuji X3pro.

I love my Iphone Xs camera and now only use this for a camera. I don’t print my pictures but look at them on the computer and I believe no one could differentiate the Iphone photos from the DSLR shots
About five year ago, I lugged my Nikon 7100 plus lens all around Europe. Got great shots for sure but at the end of the day I was tired. I found it frustrating then to go out to dinner - sans camera - to come across great photo opportunities.

When I got back to the States, I bought an Iphone and used its camera exclusively . Now whatever great shot comes up, expectedly or unexpectedly, I have my camera with me - on my belt and ready to shoot.

The newer phones, especially top of the range iPhones, Samsung's and Pixels, have such remarkable photo capabilities.

My prediction, and surely an obvious one shared by a large number of people, is that over the next few years dedicated single purpose "cameras" will go away.

People seem to forget the almost unbelievable resolution and zoom capabilities of cameras used in satellites, many of which are very much smaller than you'd expect.

The resolution I can get today with my previous-gen Samsung blows the doors clean off any of the digital cameras of just a few years ago, and phone (& phone camera) technology is in its infancy.

Photographs and photography will thrive, but the old-school tech of dedicated cameras is dying right before our eyes, despite the desperate wishes of a few who insist on clinging on.

Sadly, this is in large part because so few people have enough curiousity to at least consider some of the amazingly advanced 3rd party photo apps available for Android and Apple devices.

Could not have said it better. In fact, I didn’t. You did

Perfectly expressed.

I couldn't agree with you more. I still use my DSLR for Astrophotography, mainly Startrails, however when I upgrade my IPhone 8+ to the 12 Pro Max I will be investigating shooting night skies/startrails as well. As far as Smartphone apps, there is a plethora of 1 trick pony apps out there. I tend to stay away from those because most of the time they aren't kept up to date. I've been doing creative editing on my IPhone 8+ for awhile and my go to apps are Snapseed, Photoshop Mix, DistressedFX, Superipose, Touch Retouch, Reflection. You can see my latest creation at this link: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-700195-1.html . About 80% of this was done on my IPhone and then polished off inside of my Desktop PhotoshopCC program.

Loved the red umbrella version.
