I picked this image of someone dear to me as a suitable subject for conversion to B/W. My personal taste regarding B/W photography many not be shared by everyone, but individual taste is a freedom all of us enjoy. . . .

The angular designs on the hat contrasted with the roundness and curves of her face and the hat itself really create an impact!! And I think b&w makes a strong and effective statement here. well done!

Perhaps I should give B/W a better chance in future. But I will probably never be a true convert to B/W. . . . .

Kip, you don't have to be a convert but thank you for sharing this lovely example here. You had a good eye for what would be excellent in B&W.

Kip, I agree with your choice to try black and white here. Sometimes an image just demands it.
