For me, sepia was an acquired taste, usually reserved for older buildings with a rustic look to them. I wanted to stretch my boundaries with this one.

Yes, it is a classic postal card... Message on the backside. Dear Ruth, we are here in Sepia Pennesivania touring the ironworks. The entire town is covered with rust dust, looks Sepia-like. The Yankle brand cards are interesting so I picked this one to show what the town looks like.

Ah, Don! Leave it to you to carry things to the next level. As a thinking man, you stand out from the rest.

I really like every part of this except the sky, Bob. The overall finished work is excellent but the amount of texture the sepia brings out in the sky is a little distracting to me.

Ayup, Carol, skies need to be treated differently. Does this come closer or should they blurred even more?

Bob, I enjoyed revisiting this topic this morning. I really like this photo a lot. I think the sky is much better in this version. It is just a powerful sky that wants to dominate but you have largely tamed it.

Sky competing withs subject (terrific old building/plaza) - not so much

CWilson comment making sky play a secondary role to subject - two thumbs up!

Nice idea Bob - and like the resultant image.
