I have been experimenting with adding (or retaining) varying levels of color cast to an otherwise b&w image, and I am interested in opinions on the process. I previously posted a winter scene with the sky retaining some color, and opinions seemed to be mostly positive. Well, here's another one that I have fiddled with, and I like the results.

The weather in Montana is quite fickle, and can turn on a dime! In this image, the sun is actually fairly bright and coming in from the left, outside the frame of the image. The storm is coming up fast from the right side, hence the kind of interesting shadow patterns in the picture.

Hope you enjoy, and download is always advised!

Did you try a green-blue colour cast as opposed to the purple-blue one that you used? Purple usually manages to convey a cosy feel and I'm guessing that's not what you wanted to convey.

Beautiful. This give me the feeling that all is well where I am but likely to change. The foreground has a warm feel and the distant storm is cold and menacing. I like it a lot.

Beautiful photo and processing, Tommy. The natural light in the foreground makes the dramatic sky look ominous; very nicely done. Keep experimenting.

The bluish cast is interesting.

I viewed the cropped version on this image in The Exploration of Digital Artistry. I liked your adding of the moon there. I believe it would work here too. Of course reduced in size,

I like the effect and have used it several times. I think it is a very personal effect and draws meaning and purpose for the individual using the effect.

What you have done works well with this subject on an artistic level...don't know if it is better than what a straight B&W would express. Overall a very nice treatment!!

Though I love b/w, I probably like this even better but am not sure why. It has a dreamy, half-remembered quality, like something from the distant past which is still important to recall. If I'd made this photo I'd be really happy.
