That light is superb.

BTW I believe I'll be picking up that lens on eBay later this week as an upgrade to my 28-70 AF-D. No harm in being able to go wider. I'll probably keep the 28-70 attached to my F100.

The comments made by you and others about this lens were a major factor in my decision. Ken Rockwell also had some very good things to say about it. He said with respect to a comparison to the 24-120 that if you wanted him to say the 24-120 was sharper, he couldn't...that they were equally as sharp with the 24-85 being smaller, lighter and less money.

Check Classified here - one of the regulars has one for sale. Another great place is Roberts Used Photo Pro.
Interestingly enough, can't recall which camera pundit, said that it was not a great lens, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with it! Good enough for me. You'll enjoy it!

I saw the one listed here for $300, but it's sold. I'm watching an excellent copy on eBay with a US serial number and a Buy It Now price of only $200...I'll be pulling the trigger on that one as soon as my Social Security hits Thursday morning to use on my D610...wish me luck.

Next on my wish list is an ultra-wide 14mm prime. I really like the dramatic shots an ultra-wide can provide with the right subjects. I used to have a Sigma 15-30 zoom that I shot exclusively at 15mm on film.

The 24-85 zoom I was watching had an initial minimum bid of $25 with a Buy It Now of $200 which was fine as it was a US model in excellent condition. However, someone placed an initial bid and the Buy It Now disappeared.

So I started looking at others including one with a Buy It Now price of $209 with free shipping. A little later the seller sent me (and others I assume) an offer to sell at $199. I e-mailed and told him if he could wait until Thursday morning for the payment I would take it...he accepted so I should have it next week. Now I have to buy some 72mm filters.
