Often the smallest organisms move very mechanically and are pressured by slight water currents and even buffering against water molecules themselves. I try to make these very small organisms visible with tricks I learned about shadow and depth of field control.
Wow, and that is why we do not drink water from a puddle.... how do dogs and cats survive drinking non-filtered non-chlorinated water... bit amazing... You will be anxious to get a sample of Mars dirt to see what revives.
The water in my puddle is pretty unpleasant looking alright.
