https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-l1noj4Uq4I think the microscope fans who like to look at microbes largely search for the larger ones. We are like big game hunters. Most of what we actually see are the array for very small creatures--many times smaller than the protists we seek, but whose lives are equally interesting. These tiny creatures often vibrate when they move because they keep crashing into the water molecules. It's an issue of scale.
Thanks for that. Very nicer - but maybe not right before bedtime.
When I was in high school, the science teacher recommended an at-home experiment. Stuff a jar with vegetation and then fill it with water. Eventually, microbes would appear. It worked, and it was fascinating. However, as I was looking at these little creatures one day, a "monster" on six legs walked across the scene, filling the entire frame. That was the end of my experiment.
In my case it's these worms.
