Many would do well to simply copy the camera settings used... of course the not-exhotic not-rare... 50mm lens.
Ed, you always do a superb job in a simple way of simple subjects to make a beautifully detailed statement.
ISO 100, f 3.2, 1/1250 seconds. With these conditions, any background is not exposed enough to see. I often have used those conditions except for the speed to take flash photos of flowers during the day... the use of a fast shutter does not gather enough daylight to show the junk in the background only the flashed on flowers are properly exposed.
