Thanks. I suppose if a person had enough patience and skill he/she could isolate that cat from its background. It would require working at the pixel level. I would do something else with the picture like

A technique I would use on this subject is to make a 'dummy' Brightness adjustment layer on the top that would allow me to better see the edges of the background layer when I am making the selection. Discard the brightness layer afterwards.
