M106 with HA added

Here is another pass at M106. I added in 3 hours of HA, 2 more hours of luminance and another hour of red, green and blue for a total integration time of 12 hours (4 hours from the initial pass + 8 more hours on this pass). The HA did add a lot to the main galaxy (note: the bright read clumps and what appears to be glowing red gas tendrils above the bright center). The added integration time brightened up the center of the galaxy, the stars, some small peripheral galaxies and made the arms more colorful and a bit brighter but they are still somewhat dim.
For comparison here is a link to the first pass before the added integration time.

It's good to see someone getting some scope time, and your images prove you don't waste that time. Now maybe you could do some time on the one next to it (NGC 4248) and get a nice pair.

Hi Alberio
Thanks for checking out the image of M106 and for the comment. I'll be gone for a few weeks on vacation so I probably won't get a chance for awhile to try again. I expect if I rotate the camera just right I can just get both M106 and NGC 4248 in the same field of view. I'm still learning how to use the monochrome camera and pull the images out. I found that the arms in M106 are very dim and will need more integration time. More Ha would also help bring out more of the glowing gas.

It looks deeper, richer, now.
I normally have reservations about images built up from mono cameras.
But watching this has been refreshing.

Looks Great, Ballard!

Excellent effort. Really like the core detail.

Adding in Ha is always helpfully with LRGB images containing any amount of Ha emission spectrum.

Both images are well done. What I appreciate about the new one is the brightness of the disk and the three dimensionality of the core. Great effort and enjoy your vacation.

Hi SonnyE
Thanks for checking out the latest image and for the comment and thumbs up. M106 appears to have a very bright core compared to the outer arms. It probably needs even more integration time to bring out outer arms more. The difference between the background and thin parts of the outer arms is only 2 out of 65K so it needs more signal added in.

Hi tony8562
Thanks for checking out the image of M106 and for the comment. The core came out well the outer arms still need more integration time.

Hi bwana
Thanks for viewing the image of M106 and for the comment. The HA really brings out some of the knots in the galaxy and a tendril of gas coming out of the center. I expect adding in more HA would improve the image a bit more.

Hi Jay
Thanks for viewing the images of M106 and for the comment. I plan on punching my seafood ticket in Morro Bay with my wife and friends. If it is clear on the morning of the 26th I'll probably try and get a few shots of the total lunar eclipse early that morning.

Good for you getting away. You've gotta bring back a good image of the lunar eclipse for us east coasters! Enjoy your time, be safe and travel safely.

It's awesome the more you add , are you capturing in {HDR} ? The detail is bursting throughout the image Ballard. Kudos friend.

Hi btrlvngthruchem
I posted some shots of the lunar eclipse while down at Morro Bay at.

Hi stepping beyond
Thanks for checking out the image of M106 with HA and for the comment. I wasn't specifically going for HDR, just kept adding in more images. When I shot the Orion nebula awhile back I did go for HDR by taking 3 sets of images with DSLR using different exposure times for each set to prevent burning out the Trapezium. see M42 in Orion posted at:
