Those first hugs are magical. When the greatgrands came at me it was a good thing I was sitting down.

It's a good thing that my family has never been the hugging type. We've been able to weather the pandemic without hugs.

Have a good one everybody, the end of this nightmare is in sight!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

DD has planted some lettuce seeds but we can't do much more because we still have the possibility of frost for another couple of weeks.

Good morning from a slightly rainy Surrey. Lovely growing weather, my new plants are loving it. Things are definitely getting more normal as I'm on the school run today and then taking LM to dance.

Happy Wednesday everyone and stay safe xxx

Happy Wednesday.
I couldn't get any chicken wings on the last shopping day so no Wings Wednesday for me.
I only have the garbage men picking up the bins to look forward to.

Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 5:41 am EDT and 5'C (41'F) going up to 15'C (59'F) under sunny skies. The forecast for the next week is lovely and above normal temperatures.
Mum and Stuart went to the woods yesterday (in separate cars) to take pictures of rare green and white striped Trilliums. A couple other people were also taking pictures of them. There apparently was a Barred Owl further into the woods but Stuart wasn't interested. Mum may go by herself today to try to photograph that owl.
Yesterday was steady work setting up students. We are going to be close to our normal summer complement of students. Although they will be mostly in Works (outside), Long term care and Health departments. My employer was in the news AGAIN for a security breach. This is the 3rd time overall and the 2nd time this year. This time though the breach was caused by a 3rd party company that collects information about school children vaccinations. When this company came in I asked about the security of sending this information overseas for processing. The provincial security officer already criticized my employer for collecting too much information. 3 people involved with this project and this company were fired yesterday. We have 5 people on the security team. That's all they do all day. They have been concentrating on the internal employees, but have apparently put some mechanism in place so another leak can't happen.
Our new covid number is 2073 with 15 deaths. Only half the number of tests were done again so that number may be higher. The positivity rate is 8.5%. We have 2 new cases in this area. The positivity rate in this area is 1.8%
This province vaccinated over 200K people yesterday. We now have 40% of the adult population vaccinated with 1 shot. This province (and Saskatchewan and Alberta) will stop giving out the AstraZeneca vaccine as a first dose. Not because of anything wrong with the vaccine, but because it doesn't look like we will be able to get any more before the first cohort needs their second shot. So what we have, will be reserved for those people to get their 2nd shot, and all new first shots will be Pfizer or Moderna. Two areas an hour west of Toronto will be giving vaccinations to teens 12 and up, ahead of the rest of the province so they can send the kids back to school. The schools would only be open a few weeks before closing for the summer anyway. The rest of the province is committed to vaccinating the students over the summer so schools can open in the fall. The owner of my LYS will be getting her shot on the weekend at the Cobourg clinic.
I think I'm going to frog my bamboo project and start over again with a smaller needle. My gauge on that project is getting looser and looser because of the limp (but lovely and soft) yarn. I went down a needle size in my other project too because trying to hold the yarn tight to get gauge was hurting my hands. With the smaller needle getting gauge was easier.
Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is... (show quote)

It appears good progress is being made with the vaccine. Hope progress continues and that your will receive all the
doses promised.
Using smaller needles sounds a lot easier than holding the yarn tight. Starting over is easier for you than it is for me.

I have never run into that in a pattern. What else is one to do but wing it? That is definitely not a well written pattern.

I like mashing together patterns. I only really use the patterns for the math (because I'm too lazy to do the math myself).

I bought the entire chicken. Harold's can have the rest of it. All I really want is the wings. 🐤🐥

Monday my heart doctor said my tests show everything is fine so I was relieved. Today I had an appointment with my family doctor. He has the results of the blood test I took and it shows hypothyroid. Also I poked my eye lid the other day and I see grey around the pupil. Doctor says I have an eye infection. Now I’m concerned both may be due to the radiation I had. I’m calling the oncologist and eye doctor tomorrow but am a wreck tonight.

That's great that your heart is ok. The thyroid and the infection can be taken care of easily with medication. Especially since you are seeing the doctors about them right away.
Is it time to order some protective goggles?

Right now I am only making American Girl doll clothing. I look at a pattern just to see how many to cast on. On other patterns I usually veer off on my own once I get started.

It's great that you have the confidence to do that. And can see where the pattern is supposed to go.
Some of the people at my LYS have been knitting for years and will still only follow patterns with the exact yarn (even the same colour) so the pattern turns out like the picture. They really can't imagine it any other way.

Glad you are ready to ride in the morning.
We use to be able to depend on Amazon delivering everything the next day. For the last year that has not happened.

When mum sucked the charging cord for my work cell phone into the vaccuum, my daughter and I both ordered a replacement through Amazon. She has Prime and expected to get the cord the next day. I paid extra (half the price of the cord) for enhanced shipping. I got the cord by the end of the day, her cord arrived the day after next.

DH fixed it when he got home...he paid for next day delivery for new inner tubes and had them delivered to him at work. It's roughly 6½miles each way. I really dislike taking the train now, they are beginning to get too crowded for my liking.

Thank you Lifeline's DH. I disliked taking the train (pre-pandemic) for the same reason. I also hated hanging around the station until the train arrived. So many better ways to spend my time.
I'm glad that you can ride your bike again.

It's she just gorgeous. The colour too is just right with her coming out of mourning. She's lonely.

That light gray with the gold trim was just lovely on the Queen. I think she is going to bury herself in work. She already was the hardest working royal.
Didn't Queen Victoria do the same thing when Prince Albert died.

Hello girls. Hope you're all ok. I saw Karen this morning because I'd left my cardigan yesterday. I was fine this morning and I was just going out of the door to Wendy's and I started with my tummy. I was in two minds to go, but I had her a few books and she was short on reading matter. I woke up in the night, worrying about the gardener! It's either that , this made my tum bad or the fact I has a different coffee yesterday. Whatever it was its ages since I've had this. It makes me tired too, so I'm sat in my bed going to do jigsaws, which I would do anyway.

I've no news today, love yawl. Stay safe. Love yawl. Xx
90 br Hello girls. Hope you're all ok. I saw Karen... (show quote)

Don't have the different coffee today and see if your tummy is better today. I wonder if it was something they added to the coffee, like the cream?
