Cloudy day so I couldn't use the 200-500 5.6. Nikon D4 with 80-400 iso around 2500. auto w/b
Took some advice from Thomas here in the club and shot a few pics. using 1/6400 at 5.6 some 1/3200 and most at 1/2500 at 5.6. I should have used the D500 on some of the shots but I wanted to see how the D4 in low light was to perform.
Here goes.

In my old age I have learned from Thomas don't be afraid of shooting with a higher shutter speed to stop the ball the bat, etc. I did this with a high iso and a cloudy day. I can't wait for Thursday to have a sunny day and shoot a softball game using these different settings. I was to afraid of the high iso but the camera handled it ok.

Agree, camera is handling it well. Nice shots

I really like the catcher, but the color/exposure seems a bit off to me (at least on the iPad in comparison with the other shots). A bit washed out. Comparing the black uniforms with the group shot right below it. Can you darken it up a bit? The composition, with his feet in motion, is terrific

Thanks for the heads up David. Yeah I edited the shots all the same, maybe I should add some more contrast.
Have a great day and be safe.

Great shots as always. I have never shot at that high of speed before. I may try sometime. Thanks and keep posting. BE SAFE!

Hi Thomas. Yeah I thought I would give it a try. I want to stop the ball and the bat. Today's game I will work it again, weather sunny and warm.
Be safe too.

I absolutely agree that jacking the ISO up to get a faster shutter speed is good for baseball and softball. Good shots.
