The Madame Queen

Santa Fe 5000 — The Madame Queen, a huge 2-10-4 steam engine, is now on display in downtown Amarillo. Here are some photos of it during the dedication of its new location at the corner of Second and Lincoln streets. The gentleman in the straw hat was an engineer for the Santa Fe and drove the Queen but remembers little of it. I remember interviewing another engineer who drove her and he said it was far from the romance of the rails. It was hard work.

How to make an operation hum-drum? Do it every day.

Great shots and well done.

Wonderful machine and fine shots. Not easy to preserve details in the shadows without blowing out everything else.
