I will be the first to admit that trying to capture birds in flight has been one of my biggest photographic challenges. Most of my efforts are out of focus, blurred or otherwise a mess. These are from a remarkable scene in my backyard in Montana where this eagle was bound and determined to feast on this duck he was hunting. They did the dance for about 20 minutes, and the eagle went away frustrated and hungry. Hope you enjoy these and any input, suggestions and positive critiques are most welcome! Hand-held, Nikon D7100, Nikkor 80-400 4.5, F6.3, shutter speed 400, auto ISO, back button focus. Best viewed in Download...

Great series Tommy. I got splashed looking at your images.
That last shot is an outstanding eagle in flight shot. That was a very lucky duck.
Good action sequence, Tommy!

Get a little red dot gunsight (less than $30 including a hot shoe attachment) and your success with BIF's will improve.
look up Steve Perry for advice with that. He is very good with BIF. :)
