Let us bear in mind the basis for the opposition to present an ID in order to v**e in e******ns. The Democrats have politicized this matter because they perceive that a subgroup of their constituency will decline to acquire an ID for this purpose. This subgroup consists mostly of black folk. Hence, the Democrats characterize the requirement of an ID to v**e as active discrimination against a minority.

The Republicans may or may not seek to discriminate as claimed. It doesn't matter whether or not they do. The Democrats will browbeat the Republicans as acting from r****m for insisting that all v**ers properly identify themselves.

The accusation of r****m dirties the issue and deflects from the common and widespread requirement for showing an ID in a t***saction.

We shall see how it goes.

Once you understand the real reason why democrats are against v**er ID everything makes sence. In one word POWER. They want to change the v****g demographics in Red states. By having no v**er id as well as an increase in i******s, not onlt do they allow i******s to v**e (by granting citizenship or changimg the voring rul4es (HR-1) the increase the migration of wealthy democrats to red states. Wealthy californians move to Texas and wealthy New Yorkers to Florida and bring their liberal votiung to conservative states. Thereby changing the demographics of the v**ers of red states. It's actually quite clever. It's the way democrats will turn nthis country into a 1 party system. there is a harsher way to say this. DICTATORSHIP. Be very much afraid. It's happening. And the average republican isn't smart enough to figure out the way to stop it. It's time to stop being nice. (please forgive the typos--I am just too lazy to go back and correct them)

We have the tyranny of the majority in the making by design.

If the popular v**e elected the President, only a handful of states (New York, California, Florida, and likely Texas) would determine the outcome every time.

The E*******l College modifies this outcome by empowering every other state with a weight via its contribution to this constitutional body.
This weight somewhat overcomes the distortion of only a few states deciding who sits as President.

The makeup of the legislature (House and Senate) includes v****g power resting with all states, thus modifying the outcome of one-party rule.

A fair-minded view would welcome this balance of political power in our dear nation.

So, it is telling that both former President Clinton and his wife Hilary have advocated for doing away with the E*******l College. A Rhodes Scholar and very smart, the former President knows what it means to alter the U.S. Constitution in this way. He also knows the improbability of this action, but it sounds good politically to both the unschooled and rabid partisans.

The e*******l college is a throwback to appeasing the s***e states and has outlived its usefulness. When you look at it closely you'll find things like why North and South Dakota are two different states, yet now, Washington DC becoming a state is adamantly opposed by the GOP, and the only reason I can discern is that they are mostly Democrats that live there.
In the end, it will take a Constitutional Amendment to eliminate it, so the debate about it is pretty useless. Perhaps the National Popular V**e agreement can bypass it, if enough states sign on.
Meanwhile, the GOP will fight tooth and nail to keep it intact because they are losing the populace and can onlyhope to remain in power by c***ting.

There are many excuses I would accept for typos. Being too lazy isn't one of them, and as long as that is how much respect you have for your readers, I refuse to be one. On my laziest day, I wouldn't try to use lazy as an excuse. I find your attitude contemptible.

Your screed overlooks the popular v**e resulting in a handful of states deciding the presidency.

Popular v**e isn't nearly as one sided as you claim. In California you lose the entire state. With popular v**e you wouldn't. If most Americans want something, why should anyone care what state they live in.

The E*******l College will never go away. However, it should. Popular v****g seems a logical way to v**e for President. If we have an e*******l college we need to ensure the number of v**es each state is allowed is not disproportionate to the number of v**ers a State may have. This is done to some extent every bunch of years based on Census results. The problem, of course, is that the modifications are behind the times, are influenced politically, and are not nearly fair to States with larger populations. As someone previously said, what difference does it make what state you are from when v****g for President. I understand small, lower population states need some way to be heard with their specific needs, but the disparity in e*******l college gives those states too disproportionate a base of power and decision making in P**********l e******ns.

The EC functions inclusively to spread political power. In contrast, the popular v**e for President by effect concentrates political power in a few heavily populated states. Your text makes no mention of this distortion.

another view: I disagree in part with your conclusions.

a.). I think small states get an e*******l v**e for far fewer people than are needed to get a larger state a v**e.

b.). I think it is part of Democracy that the majority should win e******ns.
