shy, for me at least, more so than the kingfisher. Black-crowned night heron.

I don't think I've ever seen one. Maybe that's because they are so shy. You shot is very nice. Contratulations.

Nice Capture.
King fishers are small and lightning fast, unless you happen on one is resting upon the rocks or in a tree that does not see you there is little chance of seeing or photographing one.

I don’t think they’re so much shy as just not as common on Cape Cod. I mostly see them when I’m in Florida.

I have photographed many from fairly close and have not found them to be too shy. Perhaps they are used to people where I have photographed them.

I have much better luck kingfishers than the black crowned night herons. I've posted several in flight and stationary kingfishers that are in focus. I do indeed know about their quickness and speed. Thanks letmedance for looking in and commenting. vz
