Don't know what the attraction is in this area for spiders but there were about five of these running around on the same lift gate mechanism where I got my jumping spider shots a few days ago.
Beautiful pictures! That first one is especially in the "totally nailed it" category.
These are wolf spiders. The first may be attempting to "balloon", which is where they send out long silk lines to then be carried away into the breeze. That is especially amazing to watch.
They were in conflict with each other and I believe that posture was either an aggressive or defensive posture.
It is always nice to find a spider exhibiting some other behaviour rather than running away to hide.

There were approximately five of these running around and coming face to face they would assume this posture.
