There will be an unusual sight at sunrise on June 10, 2021. A crescent sun will appear on the horizon at sunrise. It's called an annular eclipse, and it will be especially visible to those in Canada and the northesat USA.

Thanks, jerry. I don't recall ever seeing one of those-I'll try to remember.

The annular part is only visible north of Thunder Bay in Canada for northeast US. Will be ~70% at MD PA border. I believe ~90% in northern Minn.

At present time and until mid-May, I believe, at the earliest, Canada is basically closed to US citizens. Personally have little hope border will be open. There was a similar one, but nearly total, in Ethiopia last year, country closed, total in Chile, country closed, Antarctica in Dec.?
Bad two years for getting to eclipses.

Check "solar eclipse June 2021" on web for information.

Here is a 'sunset eclipse' from may 2012 ,,, If you are in the right latitude I would highly recommend shooting it . Much fun!

I understand that it is harmful to look at a solar eclipse as it can damage the eyes without very dark and very specialized filters. What damage can result to the camera sensor without specialized filters? I tried photographing a solar eclipse when I lived in Florida many years ago and damaged the shutter curtain of my film camera, so I'd be extremely reluctant to photograph any eclipse with my DSLR, or any camera, without the proper protective equipment.

Need solar filter over lens. Check Baader solar film. Also check web for How to photograph sun, basically same thing for non-totality.
I tried twice to send more, but lost message. Wii try later on computer.
Safety needed for both camera and more importantly your eyes!

Around here, sunrise is most usually in the east, but these days nothing is very reliable any more. A June 10 date would swing it to east-northeast. Sunrise near mid June is precisely a quarter to pretty damnt early. Better just party all night.

I didn’t do any exact calculations. I just been on the planet a while. Welcome to Earth, stranger !

A reason to wish I still lived in the Northeast. But, thanks for sharing. I'll be looking for photos from UHHers in the Northeast.
