I am too lazy to do my closeups with a short lens and actually walk over to the subject. I prefer a high resolution long lens from a chair.

Canon70-300L + Kenko MC4-DGX 1.4x teleconverter

90D, 70-300L+1.4x, 1/800 @ f/11, ASO-16000
hand held at 12-15' in very warm late afternoon light

I'm even lazier. I prefer a 150-600.

That lives on the tripod with gimbal head looking out the door. I am not going to lug it out into the yard unless I have a VERY GOOD REASON!

In fact I bought the 70-300L because I decided the 100-400L was getting a bit too heavy at times.

Next step is dust off the case for the Bridge Camera and start using it in the yard.
