I've wanted to visit the Philadelphia Naval Yard for some years now; but never got around to it. Today was the day. The star attraction is the super carrier John F. Kennedy. For the photos taken in front of the bow, I used a fisheye lens. The processing is courtesy of the NIK collection and PS to replace the boring overcast sky that I had today. I'll also take this opportunity to thank all the members who have served their country in the armed forces. This is an open thread to anyone who wants to add to it with military related photos. Show us your photos and maybe tell us a story or two.

Excellent, Erich! #2 is my pick.

Thanks. That is an interesting shot because the fisheye really slims down the ship at the water line. It seems impossible that it could remain upright. I have a shot taken from farther away and with a normal lens. The ship looks much wider in that shotl I did not include it because there were a bunch of dumpsters and cars in the way that I did not want to clone out. THanks for taking a look.

Awesome images, Erich. Your PP treatment of this old girl does her justice. Your 2nd image is my favorite. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome Erich. I like 1 then 2. I would hate to de-barnicle that puppy.
It was my pleasure to serve 20 years in the Air Force. Look closely at the German photo. You'll see a radio tower in the back ground. The round shape on top is made of a highly reflective metal and when the suns out there's a cross like reflection on the ball. The East Germans spend millions trying to dull the ball to remove the cross like reflection. The West German's call it "The Pope's Revenge".
Those are Russian Guards you see

Very cool photos. I was in Berlin about 10 years ago and it was a really bright day. I was able to see the cross quite clearly. Thanks for posting.

The sky replacements work great and #2 is fantastic!

The sky replacement was done in PS. The new tool is really nice. You have several skies to choose from and one click gets it done. In the past I was reluctant to do sky replacements because the process was always fiddly. Now the computer does it for you and does a better job than I can do myself.
I'm surprised that everyone seems to prefer no. 2. It is dramatic; but no. 3 is definitely my favorite. I do like them all, though.

Oh yes, #2...The uncorrected Fisheye Effect changes a ho-hum photo [if corrected] into an interesting semi-abstract.
These are impressive shots. 2 and 3 are tied for me. Both have tremendous impact.
Interesting photos, Erich, and I really like the processing method you used here--enjoyed.
Very nice series. I particularly like your last shot. I get a sense it had seen a lot of action in its time.
Nice work, Erich. As with others, No. 2 is my favorite of the series.
