Any recommendations on long lens? I see B&H has Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 for $899

Thanks
Keith

Keith what lens did you use to capture the delightful "Got this hawk in my yard" photo?
It certainly seems to be up to the task...

That said please let us know what you primary use of a long lens would be and you budget limitations.
btw you can purchase previously own kit from KEH and mpb with a 180 warranty...
B&H and UsedPhotoPro offer a 90 warranty...

My limited experience with Sigma glass has been excellent...
The Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM APO Lens for Nikon F is a stellar choice for portraiture...
DxOMark gives this lens one of the highest marks for Nikon Crop bodies
B&H has it used https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/used/853531 for $774.95
If your intended use is for portraiture it is one of the best available for you D5600
I totally love this Sigma portrait lens...

For birds? I'll let other provide their skillful wisdom here.

All the best on your photographic journey Keith

Hi Keith, I'm a Keith too. Just my personal experience tells me to stay away from second party long zooms. I've had two bad second party zooms with my Nikons. I can't recommend too highly the Nikon 200~500mm f/ 5.6 zoom. I have two of them now, one is used with a D500 the other with a D850 and the performance is stellar! You can get a used or refurbed one for close to the the cost of the Sigma.

Thanks Keith. I would love to hear from someone who has used the Sigma lens. Wildlife would be my primary use

I have that lens mounted on my d500 a lot. I'm a little shaky sometimes and use it off a tripod about half the time. I will post some pics here for you later when I get home. I like the lens and it takes sharp photos as long as 1 I have enough shutter speed 2 shot off a tripod for birds it's amazing. Pics to follow in a couple hours

I have had the Sigma 150-600C for 4 years. Great lens and great value. Had it first om my D7200 then my D810, great results with both as the Sigma is a FX lens so on a cropped camera you get that sweet spot in the middle. Have shot butterflies and humming birds as well as eagles and herons.

The Sigma 150-600 Contemporary is a fantastic lens. I bought mine from Adorama last August for my Nikon D7500 for $899.00 with the USB Dock, a Hadia UV and CP filters and a cleaning kit.

Most would say the Nikon 200-500 - and with very good reasoning ....tho, the differences are not great.....

On a smaller scale and slightly cheaper is the Tamron 100-400 ....

Here is a photo I took with this lens in 2018 on a Nikon D5500. It is capable of giving good results.

I'm contemplating buying a lens in this range at some point. The Nikon would be my choice.

Used the Sigma 150-600 Sport. Found it very sharp for the price, worked well with the D-500 and D-850. The sport is heavy though, just traded it in on the Sony 600 f4, feels lighter than the Sigma 😳
