This part of the stream was in deep shadow in the morning when I arrived. I noticed that the spray had created icicles right next to an area where the rushing water was thrown in the air. I thought immediately that the scene illustrates how water can be both powerful and delicate. Since there was really not much color in the scene, I thought it would show best as a black and white.

This is a really neat shot. I agree that there is a strong contrast between the rushing water and the delicate ice on the twigs. I think there is no question that B&W best makes the point of this shot!
