Yesterday I went on a ~8 mile hike on a large plateau know as Table mountain near Oroville California. The hike varied in elevation from ~1300ft to 800ft in elevation. This feature is a basaltic lava flow that formed ~16 million years ago. This large plateau has some of the best spring time flowers I've ever seen growing on it. This series of images shows the profusion of wild flowers that seemed to flow like rivers of color through the basaltic terrain. In subsequent postings I will include closeups of some of the flowers, more images along hike including some of the many water falls and canyons that have formed over time in the area.
